Empowering families to support literacy at home should be a key strategy in any school’s comprehensive literacy plan. Research consistently demonstrates family engagement has the greatest impact on school readiness and child outcomes when families take action to reinforce what their child is learning in the classroom. In spite of this research how to best help families support their children isn’t always easy or clear. This session is designed to assist participants to understand how to develop and implement initiatives that build the capacity of families to effectively support equitable literacy development at home. Participants will leave with proven practices and actionable next steps to strengthen their family partnership work.
